Citizens' Oversight Committee (COC)

  • The Lancaster School District is now accepting applications for the Citizens’ Oversight Committee. You must live within the Lancaster School District area to be considered. Please pick up and submit your application to the Business Services Department. Looking for members that are active in a business organization representing the business community, active in a senior citizen organization, active in a bona fide taxpayer organization, parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the LSD and/or active in a PTA/PTO.

    Meetings are four times per school year and one board meeting. Meetings are no longer than 1.5 hours. You’re participation will require a three-year term (February 2019 – February 2022)

    Appointments for committee members will be made by the Governing Board and will be determined at a later date.

    Committee Responsibilities include:

    • In accordance with Education Code Section 15278(b), the Citizens’ Over-sight Committee shall:
      Inform the public concerning the District’s expenditures of Measure L bond proceeds
    • Review the expenditure reports produced by the District to ensure that Measure L bond proceeds were expended only for the purpose set forth in Measure L
    • Present to the Governing Board of the District, in public session, an annual written report outlining their activities and conclusions regarding the expenditures of Measure L bond proceeds
